Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour

Clever hardware demonstrations and bite-size quizzes make a friendly guided tour. Charging extra for it turns a pleasant curiosity into an awkward recommendation.

The review

Welcome Tour turns the Switch 2 into a tiny museum and then lets you walk across the exhibits. That is a lovely idea. Buttons become landmarks, internal components become trivia, and small games explain features more clearly than a folded manual ever could.

The tone is warm and the best demonstrations create genuine “oh, that’s clever” moments. But this is more orientation than destination. Once the hardware lessons are learned, only a handful of challenges invite a return.

The problem is not that Welcome Tour is slight; pack-in software can be slight and delightful. The problem is that it asks for a separate purchase and occasionally points toward extra accessories. Families curious about how the machine works may enjoy it, but the console already provides better first games.

The family check

Very safe content and a nice shared introduction to the hardware. Reading requirements and technical quizzes may lose very young children; optional accessory requirements may frustrate adults.

  • Content: No meaningful violence, language, sexuality, or frightening material.
  • Reading: Many exhibits use written explanations and quizzes.
  • Together: Easy to pass around, compare scores, and explore as a family.
  • Cost: A separate purchase, with some demos tied to optional hardware.
